Single Moms, Victims or Perpetrators?

Is it the lack of commitment of men that is the reason that women are left to care for their children alone. Repudiated by the men they swore they loved as soon as they found out there was a bun in the oven. Or is it rather the avarice of the women who were already in a committed relationship and decided to simply liquidate the commitment.

First we'll look at US census statistics on single parent households where the single parent is a female.

US Census table C3

Single mothers are separated into 5 categories which indicate how the became single mothers.

Married spouse absent, which makes up about 6% of the housholds

Widowed,  4% of the households

Divorced,  31% of the households

Separated, 16%  of households

and Never married, 44% of the households

These categories aren't perfectly lucid the census defines them in this way

Abstract and Methodology

Why are these statistics important? Because Women who divorce their husbands willfully become single mothers and put their kids at risk. 70% of divorces are initiated by women in general while in couples where both husband and wife are college educated women initiate divorces 90% of the time.

But why do they divorce? Well a few studies says because of economic incentives to do so.

"Our results are consistent with our hypothesis that filing behavior is driven by self-interest at the time of divorce. Individuals file for divorce when there are marital assets that may be appropriated through divorce, as in the case of leaving when they have received the benefit of educational investments such as advanced degrees. However, individuals may also file when they are being exploited within the marriage, as when the other party commits a major violation of the marriage contract, such as cruelty. Interestingly, though, cruelty amounts to only 6% of all divorce filings in Virginia.  We have found that who gets the children is by far the most important component in deciding who files for divorce, particularly when there is little quarrel about property, as when the separation is long."

Because of no fault divorce claims of abuse and infidelity can't be trusted because neither have to be proved in court for a divorce to occur. No fault divorce simply means that your contractual obligation "marriage" is completely nonbinding and useless. More so the definition of abuse has been expanded in some states to somethings like disagreeing with your spouse, wife. For our purposes we'll use the 6% statistic in the citation above.

So lets say of the single mother who are divorced 31% and separated 16%, 94% of them divorce for frivolous reasons that leaves 44% choosing to be single mothers rather then being forced out due to things like abuse.

The category "married spouse absent" isn't clear on the will of the absent spouse or the single mother.

The "never married" category is the one of interest here lie the men that left their women which is comparable to the rate at which women willfully remove the father from the child's life such as divorce. Both are estimated at 44%

So are these women who are abandoned by their children's father completely innocent, is pregnancy something a man does to a woman, do women have agency in reproduction. Reasonable people might say its 50/50 but really responsibility for the pregnancy and birth of the child are completely in the mothers control. If a baby is born it is at the complete volition of the mother and the father has zero bearing. Women have numerous forms of convenient contraceptives, if those fail they can get an abortion, if not they can put their child in a safe haven or give it up for adoption.

Why would a mother give birth to a child without support of a father? Well women are independent these days and if not they don't need a man they can have the state fund their child rearing or get money through child support.

Combined that means that women are choosing to be single mothers 88% of the time.

What's Worse Single Mother's or Child Abuse( when it comes to child development?)

So first we'll have to define child abuse , This is how the CDC defines child abuse .....

The amount that abused children and children of single mothers overlap statistically cannot be determined. Not all stats are equivocal but there seems to be a trend.

Crime

Child Abuse Victims

are twice as likely to participate in crime

make up 14% of Male Inmates

make up 36% of Female Inmates

Children raised by Single Mothers

Also twice as likely to participate in crime

Make up 70% of juveniles in state operated institutions

Make up 85% of youths in prison

Mental Health

Child Abuse Victims

80% of 21 year olds that were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological

disorder. (only includes children whom were abused)

Children raised by Single Mothers

made up 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders (includes all children with behavioral disorders)

made up 63% of youth suicides

Drug Abuse

Child Abuse Victims

As many as two-thirds of the people in treatment for drug abuse reported being abused or neglected as children.

About 66%

Children raised by Single Mothers

75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes

Pregnancy

Child Abuse Victims

Abused children are 25% more likely to experience teen pregnancy.

make up 71% of pregnant teenagers.

Total Confirmed Female Kills

How shall we start this blog, well the same way someone generally starts a little black book of whatever-ism, with a body count. Today we'll consider what is not seen, those lives that never went past someone else's bodily function, abortion. You might be surprised at the number of abortion there are per year worldwide.

43,000,000 ABORTIONS PER YEAR (source below.)

Summarized above

Not impressed yet? well then we'll

Compare this to the death tolls of individual wars, for this I'll use Wikipedia as my source Lots of War Casualty Stuff. The highest individual death toll being the Taiping Rebellion at 100 Million at the highest estimated body count to 20 million at the lowest, we'll take the highest estimate. This happened between the years 1851 to 1864 at about 13 years. So we'll divide the total deaths by the number of years for a murder rate of

7,692,308 per year

So abortion has about a 35 million death toll lead over this particular conflict.

Okay fine well maybe there is a war with a higher yearly death toll so I calculated the rate per year of all the wars listed in the wikipedia article using the highest estimate of death toll for a conflict provided and found that the highest death toll of any single conflict was World War I, which included deaths due to the Spanish Flu, at a rate of about ........

16,250,000 per year

So about a 26 million lead for abortion in death toll.

So War and Genocide can't compete with abortions but what about disease. For this I'll use the World Health Organization's Statistics. These Estimates are for the Year 2002.

The pathology with the single highest mortality rate worldwide is cardiovascular disease with ...

16,733,000 per year

So any single disease still doesn't come close to abortion in terms of mortality. But there is hope the collective mortality rate of the entire world is about .......

57,029,000 per year

This includes crime and disease, so finally something dethrones abortion.

So what percentage of human mortality is due to abortion well we'll have to add the abortion rate to the mortality rates since abortions are not counted among the worldwide mortality rate. So

100,029,000 deaths per year

Percentage wise

43% of human mortality is due to abortion alone while the remaining 57% is due to everything else that could be lethal.
